A new cozy game is conquering the hearts of many players on Steam. The simultaneous number of players peaked at 20,000. A result that the developer would not have expected.
What kind of game is this? This is the game Webfishing on Steam. You play as a cute animal that roams around and casts a fishing rod along the water. There isn’t much more to do. The game’s design is reminiscent of Animal Crossing.
Webfishing is a cozy game that you can play comfortably on the sofa. Loftia also falls into this category:
Simple fishing game delights players on Steam
After a month of release, the game has peaked at over 20,000 concurrent players on Steam (via steamcharts). The developer West had not expected this, as he announced on X, formerly Twitter:
It’s been a MONTH (?!?!) since Webfishing launched and I just wanted to say a big thank you for all the support and interest in this crazy project. Honestly, I thought MAYBE 100 people would play it at some point – but here we are!
What does the future of web fishing look like? He went on to say that he doesn’t quite know what the future of the game looks like. After working on the game for months, he would now take a break. He will now start planning the next steps; He already has the ideas for new games.
How does the community react? The comments under his post are filled with fans of the game thanking the developer:
20,000 concurrent players is a high number for a small indie game, especially because indie developers don’t have a major publisher to support them. The developer of the Steam hit Palworld also believes that indie games need more support: After the tremendous success of Palworld: the developer is hoping for more support for indie games
