Viktor Lodin was involved in just about everything in the first period against HV71.
But it could have looked different.
– I thought I would get a match penalty, so it was nice that it didn’t happen that way, he admitted to TV4 Play.

The heat qualifier between HV71 and Oskarshamn began during the Friday qualifier. Although it was the home team that had the best start, it was Oskarshamn and Viktor Lodin who would break the deadlock. This after the 24-year-old raked in a rebound from close range after five minutes of play.
After that, Lodin was in the center of the action again when he jumped into a tackle in his own zone. After video evaluation, it was finally announced that the decision on the ice was changed and that Lodin instead had to sit in the penalty box for two minutes due to charging. However, Lodin himself admits that there was some concern that this first game would end prematurely after the tackle.
– I thought I would get a match penalty, so it was nice that it didn’t happen that way and that we got to come in and get a power play and make it 2-0, Lodin explained to TV4 Play after the first period.
Niklas Wikegård also gave his view on the situation.
– We look at Lodin who comes in with power, I think he jumps and then I automatically think it would have been a higher penalty. I think Oskarshamn and Lodin are lucky there and I’ve seen a lot of stuff that has been punished harder than that, analyzed the TV4 Play expert.
Before the second period, the referee Linus Öhlund also appeared for an interview with TV4 Play where he gave his explanation about how the refereeing team saw the situation.
– I see that Lodin takes the skates off the ice, then I’m not sure if the initial one is against the head. But the biggest force is against the shoulder, so therefore we take a second for charging. We can take bigger penalties for charging, but we assessed this as a second, Linus Öhlund explained to TV4 Play about how the situation was assessed.
After Lodin’s expulsion, Oskarshamn was then able to extend its lead in a power play of its own, a goal in which Lodin answered for an assist point. At the end of the first period, Lodin was also awarded his second two-minute suspension of the match due to tripping.
