Those shoes you saw everywhere in the playground are finally back (they might be hanging around in your closet)

Those shoes you saw everywhere in the playground are finally

We wore them with jeans, dresses, skirts or even shorts, the iconic pairs of sneakers from our best summers are well and truly back.

They were seen on the feet of Charlotte Gainsbourg in ‘L’Effrontée’ in 1985, and on those of her mother, Jane Birkin, in the 2000s. They also wore them on the cover of Vogue in 2014. At the same time, the model, which quickly became iconic for its multitude of colors and incomparable lightness, left the feet of the stars to take to the streets and adorn those of all fashionistas.

Designed in 1978 by two brothers who gave it their name, this cotton canvas shoe was originally reserved for military gymnastics. Revisited in all colors – but never in black, a categorical refusal of its creators – for forty-six years, the model with the immaculate sole has established itself as the essential pair of all our summers. In 2024, this tennis shoe, adored by women, men, but also by children, is obviously back at the top of the trends. Once again, sales of these sneakers synonymous with sunny days are on the rise again. But then, what is this pair with a design so emblematic that it is known to all? It is obviously the creations of the French brand Bensimon!

Although the small tennis shoes sold at the single price of 35 euros are the reason for the great notoriety of the Bensimon house, they are not its only product. The label, founded in 1980, is also at the origin of a line of comfortable clothing and a line of decoration products. Now known throughout the world, Bensimon collaborates with other companies such as Virgin Mobile for the marketing of a mobile phone in 2009, Dim, Monoprix, Vertbaudet, La Redoute, Le Bon Marché, Les 3 Suisses, Inès de la Fressange, Jean Paul Gaultier, Éram and many others. The latest collaboration? A hyper colorful capsule imagined with the two creators of the French house Lucas du Tertre.
