According to Japanese public broadcaster NHK, Toyota has filed a recall notice with Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
IT COVERS MORE THAN 580 THOUSAND VEHICLES
The notification covers more than 580 thousand vehicles of the “Sienta” and “Japan Taxi” models manufactured between May 2015 and March 2023.
It was stated that in the models in question, the bolts were not fixed tightly to the parking brake pedal and this could cause the bolts to loosen and fall out.
It was stated that the malfunction carries risks, including preventing the parking brake from being activated correctly and the brake remaining active all the time.
It was reported that another malfunction is that the windshield slats may leak rainwater, and the cables that will get wet may cause the electric sliding doors to open.
Toyota stated that the recalled vehicles will be inspected free of charge at dealers across the country and parts will be replaced if necessary.
