Thor no longer needs Chris Hemsworth as a sexy sadistic

As a muscleman with superpowers, Chris Hemsworth has secured a prime role over the past 10 years thanks to Thor. However, his constant appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe quickly distract from the fact that the star has also acted in other films in between.

This also includes the thriller Bad Times at the El Royale, which you can watch today on ProSieben. The Thor actor is part of an impressive star ensemble with names like Dakota Johnson, Jeff Bridges and Jon Hamm. The highlight is nevertheless Hemsworth as sadistic-seductive psychopathas one rarely sees.

Chris Hemsworth has never been as unleashed at Marvel as he was in Bad Times at the El Royale

Even in the Marvel movie universe, Hemsworth already has one striking transformation as Thor laid down. At the latest with Taika Waititi as director for the third solo film, the Australian was able to fully live out his comedic talent and transform Thor into one of the funniest MCU characters. In Avengers 4: Endgame, this development was then taken to the extreme by Fat Thor.

Still, the diverse facets of Hemsworth in his signature role are small steps compared to his character in Bad Times at the El Royale. The film, which gathers a random group of people in an abandoned hotel, is teeming with people drastic turnsrepeated changes of perspective and nasty surprises.

The character of Chris Hemsworth seems more like a myth that is conjured up late in the film. His character of the devilish cult leader is like a bang, which is not only the consistently shirtless appearance of the star lies.

Above all, Hemsworth plays the mysterious character superbly between attractive seducer and sadistic killer. When he finally arrives at the hotel, Bad Times at the El Royale becomes a particularly devilish balancing act between life and death thanks to his demonic, unpredictable charisma. Nobody here thinks of the entertaining Marvel thunder god anymore. Such a role shows that there is much more to Hemsworth that he should live out more often.

Bad Times at the El Royale airs today at 11:10 p.m. on ProSieben.
