Thor 4 unveils all new Marvel heroes in the credits

In the mid-credit scene of Thor 4: Love and Thunder, we get to see the legendary Superhero Hercules welcome to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is played by Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein. In the mid-credit scene, Hercules is tasked by Zeus (Russell Crowe) with instilling fear in the people in the name of the gods.

But first things first: Why does Zeus give Hercules this assignment at all?

In the second act of the film, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his crew are in Olympus where they meet Zeus. However, this one will presented very ridiculously and refuses to work with Thor to stop the dangerous villain Gorr (Christian Bale). The situation escalates and Thor kills Zeus with his own lightning bolt.

Hercules in the comics

However, in the mid-credits scene of Thor 4: Love and Thunder, we learn that Zeus survived and thinks the humans should save the Lost respect for the gods to have. For this reason he gives Hercules the task of instilling fear in ordinary people. Hercules resolutely begins his mission.

New Marvel hero in Thor 4: who exactly is Hercules?

In the comics, the demigod makes his debut in the first issue of Journey Into Mystery Annual from 1965. The character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Hercules’ abilities mainly consist of super strength and immortality. Hercules is a demigod and the son of Zeus. As in the comics, he seems to appear in the MCU first as an antagonist before joining the good guys.

Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein plays Hercules in the MCU

Hercules is played by Brett Goldstein, best known for his role as Roy Kent on the dramedy series Ted Lasso. Roy Kent introduces himself as a fierce soccer player before we realize that behind the facade is a vulnerable and warm person hidden. The MCU could also make use of this image. Last but not least, at first glance, Hercules looks as fierce as Roy Kent.

For Goldstein, who has also starred in shows like Drunk History, Hoff the Record and Doctor Who, the Hercules cast represents his most notable role to date now we can’t wait to see where he’ll appear next in the MCU.
