World Cup victories and the Tour de Ski fiasco. The Swedish skaters have mixed and matched during the start of the season.
Now Thomas Wassberg gives his honest verdict on today’s national cross-country team.
– It’s a special season with the WC ahead, he says to Sportbibeln.
He is one of our biggest skiing legends ever. Thomas Wassberg68, has won Olympic gold, WC gold, Bragdgold and total world cups. He is a true master and thus knows what it takes to be the very best in the world.

The 68-year-old gives his analysis of how it looked for the Swedes during the opening of the season. Frida Karlsson and Jonna Sundling have impressed and won several of the races they have competed in (for Frida there have not been that many due to her foot injury). On the men’s side have Edwin Anger and William Poromaa won each World Cup race, but before that the results were not very strong.
– It has been slow on the men’s side, but the ladies look lively. It was only during the Tour de Ski that it didn’t go so well, but otherwise so. There were some who were injured and sick. Then there is a special season with the World Cup further on, he says.
Wassberg does not want to bet before the WC
One of those who stood out during the latter part of the season is Edvin Anger. The Åsarna sprinter has put in strong efforts both in the Tour de Ski and in recent weeks in the World Cup. Among other things, he won the sprint in French Les Rousses last weekend.
– I hope that Edvin Anger succeeds well because he plays for our club. He has some potential, we’ll see how far it goes, says Wassberg.
