Anyone who lived in Germany in the 80s couldn’t ignore Die Supernasen. Mike Krüger and Thomas Gottschalk wrote the film together for the first time – the title was a reference to the actors’ two noses. Now the idea came up to remake the film.
The Return of the Supernoses: Reboot of 80s humor
In an interview with the Osnabrücker Zeitung, Mike Krüger announced that he and Thomas Gottschalk are said to have planned a return of the supernoses. He says that he has more contact with Gottschalk now that he is living in Germany again.
Both wanted to reboot the film a throwback to the 80s delivery. Mike Krüger about the film project:
The idea was that we would beam ourselves from the 80s into the present and know neither electric cars nor e-cigarettes, the Internet or cell phones. But we have our 80s humor and pull out these gags.
The title and script for the film had already been decided, said Mike Krüger.

But the return of the super noses did not find a producer. According to Kruger no one could relate to her humor:
Don’t you have them all? This is so 80s. Sure, we said, that’s what the film is about.
Because the producers are all much younger than him and don’t know the original. Mike Krüger rejects the request to rewrite the script. He says:
But then it’s no longer our sense of humor. And since we fortunately don’t have to do it for the money, we said we’d better leave it alone. Maybe even rightly so. You don’t know. Could have been a huge bust.

He even made it into the YouTube charts with his song “Old White Man.” Despite all his joy about the many creative opportunities that platforms like YouTube offer him, he criticizes the low sales that are made from music despite its success: “Music has actually become worthless and I think that’s a shame.”
