Pursued by injuries and in the Paris Olympics came the first final miss in nine years.
Now Thobias Montler is taking a second look at his career.
The star breaks with coach Yannick Tregaro and moves from Gothenburg.
The injuries that characterized the season were under control and the Olympic rope in Italy gave a long-awaited result of 8.01 meters.
But in Paris came the setback.
Thobias Montler did not progress to the Olympic final – which was his first final miss since 2015.
– There is not much to say. An extreme disappointment. It was the worst possible outcome, he said shortly after the fiasco at the Stade de France.
The 28-year-old was there and then inside that he needed to “find a change and get everything right”. Now the cross-country star has found a way forward.
Montler breaks
He breaks up with the coach Yannick Tregaro and moving from Gothenburg.
“Even though this chapter is now ending, I look forward with excitement to my continued investment in athletics and the opportunities that lie ahead of me,” he writes on Instagram.
Montler and Tregaro have worked together for seven years and won five WC and EC medals.
