His new film Rebel Ridge finally has a release date after 5 years of struggle.

The story of Saulnier’s new film is still largely unknown. According to World of Reel, it is supposed to revolve around an ex-marine who bone-breaking action sequences fights against corrupt police officers. The setting is a small town, says the director in the Film Stories interview.

One of the first signs of life for the film was the casting of Star Wars actor John Boyega in the lead role, which Variety revealed in 2019. But since then production repeatedly descended into chaos.

First, the coronavirus pandemic stopped the film, then Boyega suddenly dropped out after filming had already started again. According to the Hollywood Reporter, family reasons or frustration with the production circumstances were behind the exit.

When is Rebel Ridge coming to Netflix?

Rebel Ridge is 2024 will be released. There is no more precise release date yet. Aaron Pierre (Old), Don Johnson (Django Unchained) and James Cromwell (The Green Mile) will be seen in front of the camera.
