Next to The Batman: Part II went various series projects in development for the streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max). The first has already taken shape and focuses on a well-known villain: Colin Farrell returns to the streets of Gotham City as The Penguin in his own series.

The plot of the series begins a week after the events of The Batman and tells of Rise of the iconic DC villain. The series was created by Lauren LeFranc (Impulse), while Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown) was hired to direct the first three episodes.

The Batman sequel: When does The Penguin start?
A specific start date for The Penguin has not yet been set. The teaser trailer at least limits the time period. In the Fall 2024 The spin-off series for The Batman starts. The first season includes a total of eight episodes and is expected to be released weekly on Max. It is currently not clear when the series will run in Germany. Meanwhile, The Batman: Part II opens in cinemas on October 1, 2026.
