Summer’s most desirable handbag is made from old leather scraps. Available in super trendy colors, it is actually a reinterpretation of a great classic.
Fashion is an eternal beginning. Every year and every season, the most famous fashion brands seek to reinvent themselves, while maintaining their own identity. New colors, new patterns, new materials, all means are good for innovation. But in recent years, an additional ingredient has complicated the brands’ quest for renewal: preservation of the environment. Fashion is one of the most polluting sectors and consumers are increasingly aware of this. To meet the new expectations of the general public, the most recognized brands must also redouble their efforts.
This is the case, for example, of the Loewe brand which launched, in 2021, the Surplus Project a project to recycle its textile waste. From this announcement was born the tote bag Wovenreinvented using pieces of leather from previous collections. For summer 2024, the brand led by artistic director Jonathan Anderson is trying the experiment again with a new collection. This time, the line revisits the iconic Flamenco Clutch, marketed in 1990, based on ““unprecedented techniques”we can read on the website of the Spanish house.
To create this model, the artisans of the LVMH group house cut, superimpose and assemble by hand undulating strips from scraps of nappa leather and suede.
With a single price of 2,200 euros, the Flamenco Surplus is available in four colors: yellow, green, blue and burgundy. Shades mixed with more neutral tones, to create pieces inspired by nature and especially by Spanish landscapes. Whether in a smooth or grained finish, the handbags Surplus are a very very limited edition. Go for it!
