There are now a few months left for Apple to introduce the iPhone 14 family. While new rumors about the phones continue to come, a claim has drawn attention. Accordingly, this week will be a very critical week for Apple and iPhone 14. So why?

APPLE WILL START THIS WEEK

Apple will begin evaluating BOE’s OLED panel samples for the upcoming iPhone 14 this week, The Elec has learned. Sources said that the Chinese display panel maker hopes to get approval from the iPhone maker within the month.

If Apple approves, BOE will begin mass production of the panels between July and August. That means it’s a few weeks behind its South Korean rivals Samsung Display and LG Display, which are expected to start mass production later this month.

Earlier this year, Apple caught BOE secretly changing the circuit width of thin-film transistors in OLED panels for the iPhone 13. This caused the supply of OLED panels for the iPhone 13 to drop from February.

Executives of the Chinese company had visited Cupertino to explain the situation to Apple and get approval for OLED panels for the iPhone 14.

Sources said that BOE has recently been re-approved by Apple to supply panels for the iPhone 13.

UP TO 5 MILLION FOR IPHONE 14

Considering the situation, it is important for the Chinese display giant to receive a large number of OLED panel orders for the upcoming iPhone 14.

Sources claimed that BOE could supply at most 5 million units, given the recent debacle with the iPhone 13 panels.

The iPhone 14 family is expected to consist of the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will be standard models.

The new iPhones are expected to be introduced in September.
