Then you are entitled to a pensioner’s certificate
Then a pensioner’s certificate would be something you would appreciate. It gives you a reduced price on several different products and services in society such as local transport, train tickets or cultural experiences such as cinema or museums.
But there are certain caveats, in addition to the fact that you are a pensioner. You must first of all have started drawing your public pension before you turned 66, in order to be entitled to the certificate.
If you take out part or all of the public pension, while you are younger than 66, you can advantageously use the pensioner’s certificate in society. Namely, it shows that you are simply entitled to discounts that belong to pensioners.

How to get a pensioner’s certificate
If, on the other hand, you do not draw your general pension, but instead the occupational pension, you are not entitled to a pensioner’s certificate, regardless of age.
In other words, the pensioner’s certificate is aimed at everyone who draws a public pension and who has not yet reached the age of 66. Should you be older than 66 years, no certificate is required to receive discounts in everyday life, then you are entitled to the pensioner discount that may be offered on the product or service you intend to buy. It is then sufficient that you can prove your age with an ID document.
“You do not need a pensioner’s certificate if you have turned 66. Then it is enough to show valid identification to get a pensioner’s discount,” the Pensions Agency explains on its homepage.
Have you not turned 66 yet but are withdrawing all or part of your state pension? Then you can apply for your pensioner’s certificate here.
