You know Teddy Riner, but do you really know the relatives of the five-time Olympic champion?
Olympic champion for the 5th time at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after winning a gold medal in the individual event and in the team event, Teddy Riner is more than ever in the pantheon of French sport, but also global.
Enough to provoke the admiration of an entire people, and undoubtedly even more of the people who follow him on a daily basis and in particular those close to him. His wife Luthna Plocus is also his number one supporter. Model, artist and communicator, she is the mother of her two children. The rest of Teddy Riner’s family remains discreet and does not interfere too much in his life.
This is not the case for this French rap legend, who has claimed in the past to be a member of this very restricted circle. Doc Gyneco has in fact assured that he is a cousin of the multi-medalist champion. An improbable revelation that the French rapper revealed during his appearance on the set of the show Touche pas à mon poste, broadcast on C8 in 2019.
“Teddy, he’s my real blood cousin!”, he said. What Teddy Riner never confirmed, the question having never really been asked of him. We therefore do not know the degree of relationship between the two men who are 15 years apart. And it is not guaranteed that the Olympic legend will suddenly start claiming this “blood” link, as “the Doc” called it.
After being a member of the group Ministère AMER, Doc Gyneco was one of the precursors of rap in France, but for several years, he has been making headlines rather than successes. The man whose name in real life is Bruno Beausir was first found guilty of tax fraud in 2008, which earned him a ten-month suspended prison sentence, just a few months after having publicly supported Nicolas Sarkozy for the 2007 presidential election.
In 2021, Doc Gyneco will also be convicted of domestic violence against his wife and will receive a 5-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 2,000 euros. The same year, his name was cited by the police in a case this time involving a sexual assault on a minor under 15 years old, without any follow-up being publicized at this stage.
Even if this only happened very rarely, Doc Gyneco and Teddy Riner have already appeared together. The “Doc” notably attended the Paris Tournament in February 2010 when the giant Riner was becoming a superstar in the world of judo. He also commented on social networks on one of the successes of the colossus at the Worlds.
