A tip that can save your vacation.
Shifted rhythm, culinary discoveries, lack of sleep, dehydration… So many reasons that can cause summer constipation. It results in a slowdown in intestinal transit and generates a decrease in the frequency of stools, which will appear dehydrated. This unpleasant phenomenon is not rare and can quickly ruin the vacation. To avoid this discomfort when you are away from home, it is advisable to make sure to get enough sleep, not to forget to drink and eat enough fiber. However, despite these good reflexes, the stress and anxiety caused by the trip prevent you from regulating your transit. How can we remedy this phenomenon? Dr. Karan Rangarajan, a British doctor, teaches us a yoga position to practice on the toilet, which he says can facilitate the passage of stools.
It’s in a video On his Tiktok account, Dr. Karan Rangarajan explains his trick to us. First of all, he coHe just clarified that this technique is not a treatment for constipation: “It won’t solve chronic constipation problems or replace a high-fiber diet, but if you have “internal plumbing” problems, it could be your way out.“, clarifies the doctor. His position nevertheless has the advantage of modifying “the angle of the rectum by relaxing the puborectalis muscle.” This muscle normally creates a fold in the rectum to maintain containment, that is, to prevent feces from flowing out.
What is this famous miracle position? Just sit as usual on the toilet, cross your legs by raising the knee so as to position the foot of one leg on the top of the thigh of the opposite leg. Then, you have to slightly pivot the bust towards the wall (see photo).
Thanks to this position, the rectal fold is reduced, “This allows for a more direct passage of stools and optimized excrement physics”the doctor explains. In this position, intra-abdominal pressure is increased and the pelvic floor is slightly more relaxed.
If you suffer from chronic constipation on a daily basis, the doctor finally advises investing in a small toilet stool. Used to raise your knees when sitting on the toilet, it will have the same relaxing effect on the pelvic floor.
