This iconic Top Chef candidate is opening a pop-up restaurant whose cuisine and decor will take you on a journey far away!
The Parisian gastronomic scene is doing great this fall. After the opening of Meïda, the Mediterranean brasserie of chef Mohamed Cheikh, winner of Top Chef in 2021, it’s the turn of another star of the culinary show to land in the capital, for a temporary project that will take you from Paris to the Philippines!
It is in the 11th arrondissement that Danny Khezzar, winner of the Hidden Brigade in 2023, sets down his suitcases for a month and a half, offering us to taste a cuisine inspired by his trip to the Philippines. The ephemeral restaurant Casa Don Papa, a collaboration of the chef with the Philippine rum brand Don Papa, will take the visitor into “a very jungle atmosphere and decor in the spirit of the Philippines, with a bar downstairs in the spirit of Speakeasy” he told us.
This ephemeral restaurant that sets up shop at 4 rue rampon will offer to taste a starter, a main course, a dessert, among three proposals, and associated cocktails, in a rocky decor that refers to Mount Kanlaon on the island of Negros and gives the impression of entering a lava cave. At the heart of this space is an imposing table, where you can see the outline of the island as well as the historical places of Don Papa. The table is offered for the organization of private dinners by reservation. In addition to the restaurant, La Casa Don Papa will offer a club inspired by the famous Masskara festival of Bacolod, with a tailor-made program to vibrate until the early hours with Sugarlandia, this premium rum with a character as volcanic as the land from which it comes!
Ready to discover this exotic sanctuary in the heart of Paris? Casa Don Papa opens its doors from Monday to Saturday between Friday, September 20 and Saturday, October 26, 2024. The restaurant offers two sittings, one at 7 p.m. and the other at 9 p.m., while the club opens its doors from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Danny Khezzar told us that he will be there on Mondays and Tuesdays, as his Geneva restaurant Bayview is closed these days.
