At the time of this writing, Outer Banks Season 3 is number 2 in the Netflix top 10, just behind Too Hot To Handle Germany. The mixture of teen drama and mystery adventure has attracted a large audience worldwide. Because while other series are waiting for an extension on Netflix, the future of the OBX crew has already been secured.
Netflix has already ordered season 4 of Outer Banks before the start of season 3. So much relief at the beginning must be.
Season 4 prepares the hunt for Blackbeard’s treasure
In Season 3, the Pogues (John B, Sarah, Kiara, Cleo and Co.) end up on a deserted island. But they cannot enjoy the idyll for long. Ward and Rafe want revenge, and it turns out that’s not their only problem. As the story progresses, Sara and John B. in particular suffer tearful losses. In the finale, the group meets a mysterious man who claims the unbelievable: he wants to know details about the last voyage of the legendary pirate Blackbeard. And there’s usually treasure in the cargo of a pirate ship, too.

Ian McShane as Blackbeard
Blackbeard, also known as Edward Teach, sailed the world’s seas in the early 18th century and flaunted a flashy appearance. This predestines the legendary pirate for appearances in film and television.
Ian McShane played him in Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides, Hugh Jackman took on the role in Pan, Ray Stevenson donned the pirate costume in two seasons of Black Sails and most recently Taika Waititi played Blackbeard in Our Flag Means Death.
Blackbeard’s lost treasure is a popular legend
A legend of Blackbeard’s lost treasure says that he buried it on an archipelago in the gold of Maine (Seacoastonline ). Other stories have suggested that there is treasure hidden in the wreck of his last ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, which was sunk off the coast of North Carolina (source: Smithsonian). As Forbes notes, the latter is close, i.e. geographically. The Outer Banks are a group of islands off the coast of North Carolina.
What the Outer Banks writing staff decides to do remains to be seen for a while. Season 4 has no start date yet. However, there is usually a little more than a year between the episodes.
