Nintendo has been complained about for displaying an oppressive stance on unionizing its employees.
A staff member of Nintendo’s Americas office has filed a formal complaint about the company’s alleged interference in unionization efforts.
The complaint, brought to light by Axios and submitted to the US National Labor Board in Washington state, where Nintendo is headquartered in North America, includes the names of both Nintendo and its recruiting company, Aston Carter.
Nintendo was sued
Details about the complaint have not been clearly disclosed, but it is emphasized that there are at least 2 categories in which Nintendo and Aston Carter are at fault.
It was reported that the content of the complaint included “coercive statements”, “coercive acts”, “forced dismissal of the employee”.
The lawsuit reminded us of the ongoing conflict between Raven Software, the Call of Duty studio that campaigned for direct unionization, and its employees. In fact, the business became so stubborn that Activision Blizzard announced this month that they plan to convert all temporary gaming testers into full-time employees.
Even though the agenda was mixed with this complaint, Nintendo and Aston Carter have not yet come up with a definitive statement on the subject.
