Most smart TVs simply don’t have good sound (with a few exceptions) because the screens are so flat that large speakers can’t fit in them. The simplest solution is a soundbar, which is also available in sets with additional speakers.

With the Ultimea Poseiden D60 you get a 5.1 surround system with a soundbar as the heart and a subwoofer and two rear speakers as additions. At Amazon you currently only pay 199 euros for the set.

Compact design, good sound and top price performance

Compared to your TV sound, the Poseidon D20 is pretty safe a significant upgrade represent. Especially those Dolby Atmos support is not a given in this price range. The 3D audio format is one of the best surround sound technologies available (alongside DTS:X and Auro 3D). However, with the Ultimea soundbar set you only get virtual Dolby Atmos. True 3D sound with built-in upfiring speakers is not available in this price range.

The 5.1 soundbar set comes with one for this natural sound, as the magazine 4kfilme.de reports in its test. Installing the set is also really easy – the soundbar can even be connected wirelessly to the subwoofer. You connect the soundbar via HDMI with an eARC connection, which is the only way Dolby formats can be processed. Alternatively, you can connect the soundbar to appropriate devices via Bluetooth – or use the AUX input.

Like many budget sound bars, the Poseidon D20 does not support DTS formats, so you have to look for real Dolby Atmos in a different price range. For example, the high-end model from Bose* is on offer at Amazon.

For anyone who just wants to upgrade their TV sound cheaply, the Ulitmea sound set is an excellent option for getting home theater surround sound at an entry-level price. You can always upgrade later.
