The Sony A80L is just below the A90K and A95L in terms of features, but is still in the absolute top group. The OLED panel ensures breathtaking images with deep blacks and high contrast. Thanks to 120Hz and HDMI 2.1, gaming with the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S is also really fun. The PlayStation console in particular benefits from some exclusive features that Sony only includes in its own TV models.
The hardware experts at rtings.com also took a closer look at the OLED TV. In their test from July 2023, they drew the following conclusion:
Overall, the Sony A80L is an excellent television. Its HDR peak brightness is good, allowing movies to stand out well in a dark room. The SDR brightness is a little less impressive, but the TV makes up for it with fantastic reflectivity, so the TV looks great when watching TV shows and sports in a bright room. Like all OLED televisions, this TV is characterized by extremely low input lag and an almost instantaneous response time. Unfortunately, the TV’s HDR brightness decreases in gaming mode, so you should play HDR games in a dark room for the best visual effect. The same great gaming features also make it a good choice as a PC monitor, although as with all OLEDs there is a risk of burn-in. All in all, it’s an amazing TV.
