This electric vehicle with record autonomy will soon arrive on our roads.
Among the many questions asked by motorists hesitant to invest in an electric car, that concerning autonomy is always the one that comes up first. Despite the progress made in this area by manufacturers, the distance that a vehicle can travel without refueling remains the main concern of those who are thinking of switching from thermal to electric. It is true that we do not envisage a journey of 680 kilometers between Paris and Toulouse in the same way depending on whether we are driving a petrol vehicle or powered by one or more batteries.
When a five-minute trip to the pump is enough for one, three stops are often necessary for the other. With each time about twenty minutes to allow to recharge at the very high power terminals found on the highways. Well aware of the issue, car manufacturers are working hard to offer vehicles with sufficient autonomy and to be able to convince their customers more easily. With it is true that there are increasingly conclusive results, as with this flagship model from a French brand that we will very soon see on our roads.
Since last spring, Peugeot has been marketing the new version of one of its best-sellers: the 3008. First sold exclusively with a 73 kWh battery, the SUV very popular with families, also available in hybrid but no longer in thermal , already had a good range of 525 kilometers. But the Lion brand had promised the arrival a little further away of a “long range” version. We now know the exact range of the new 3008 “Long Range” since it has just obtained approval for its energy performance. In the WLPT cycle, that is to say during tests carried out on a flat course and at a moderate speed, the SUV breaks the symbolic barrier of 700 kilometers covered in a single charge.
A record performance for a vehicle in this segment, better for example than the 625 kilometers of the new Renault Scenic E-Tech or the 600 kilometers of the Tesla Model Y. Sometimes criticized for its weight – almost 2.2 tonnes – this new 3008 “long range ” is expected in dealerships in early 2025. It will feature a large 96.9 kWh battery compared to 73 kWh for the standard version of the SUV. And if this larger capacity battery is 15 millimeters wider, Peugeot assures that it did not have to plan either the passenger compartment or the trunk.
The Sochaux manufacturer also announces that this new version of the SUV, with a power of 230 horsepower, benefits from clear progress in recharging time. The battery can go from 20% to 80% in just 27 minutes on super chargers (with an output of up to 160 kWh). So many arguments to be able to consider (re)taking the vacation route much more calmly.
