A theme park could soon open in north London, spotlighting some film and cartoon heroes. A large-scale park which promises to attract many tourists.
In France, amusement parks such as Futuroscope, Parc Astérix and Disneyland Paris attract many visitors each year. In Europe, among the most famous sites are also Europa-Park in Germany, Portaventura World in Spain and Gardaland in Italy. But a brand new amusement park could well overshadow these tourist sites. It could open a few kilometers from London, in the North, more precisely in Bedford in the county of Bedfordshire. Already established in China and Japan, in Singapore, but also in the United States (in Orlando and Los Angeles), it would be the very first European theme park signed by Universal Studios.
According to British media, Universal’s parent company recently acquired 200 hectares of land for a sum of $271 million, and is studying this project. “It will be several months before we are ready to make a decision and we look forward to engaging with all relevant stakeholders and the local community” the spokesperson for Universal Destinations and Experiences told Sky News.
If the project were to be carried out, fans could find key attractions, on the theme of Jurassic World, without forgetting James Bond, Paddington Bear or even Harry Potter, which is already a success in England thanks to the visit to the Studio , with nearly 2 million annual visitors. We could also find animations inspired by cult Universal films, like Kung-Fu Panda (like in Beijing), or Fast & Furious, Transformers and Waterworld. For the moment, Universal has not yet communicated on the attractions which could be selected to be highlighted in the United Kingdom. If it sees the light of day, this new park would then be accessible from France by Eurostar, by train, or by plane.
