Increased anxiety and more young people with criminal behavior – the social services in Falun testify to this. A greater focus on preventive work is requested, but the economy and the supply of skills are seen as obstacles.
– We are moving in the right direction, there are concrete measures and knowledge support, but we need more money to really work in this area, says Magnus Nordahl, section manager at the social service in Falun.
New Social Services Act
A new social services law will be presented in 2024. In connection with the new law, the government proposes a competence and staffing investment of SEK 200 million in 2024 for the country’s municipalities and a further SEK 8 billion until 2028.
– The new Social Services Act is highlighted by the municipalities as a very important tool, together with new confidentiality rules and to get opportunities to more clearly press on parental responsibility, says Social Services Minister Camilla Waltersson Grönvall (M).
Is this new legislation sufficient to meet the needs that exist?
– The previous government’s directive said that this reform must not be cost-driven. This means that we now have to build on this legislation gradually, says Camilla Waltersson Grönvall (M).
