A children’s makeup kit is the subject of a recall by Rappel Conso due to its dangerous composition.

Consumer recall alert on children’s makeup kit from the POP GIRL brand sold in a suitcase and sold in all Monoprix stores in France. This product is recalled by the distributor due to prohibited elements in its composition which may be dangerous for children. The Consumer Reminder sheet published this Wednesday March 27 mentions a risk of skin “lesions”.

The recall launched by the government website concerns batches marketed between January 3, 2022 and June 9, 2023. This recalled makeup case from the supplier Marwinks has the following model name: “1539011E POP GIRL Mini Beauty Case Set” and has the GTIN number: 4038033390115. The recall of this product is due to the presence of a “mixture of methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone, not authorized in leave-on cosmetic products” as explained in the Consumer Recall sheet.

As RMC points out, these two components are preservatives and allergens, often used by cosmetic manufacturers. However, the latter have been banned since February 12, 2017 in so-called “non-rinsed” cosmetic products. The government website indicates that these preservatives can cause “external injuries” including “skin lesions or corrosion and eye damage.”
