This little button in your car turns your glove box

Do you dream of having a cold drink at your fingertips when it’s 35 degrees in the passenger compartment of your car? We give you the trick that every driver should know.

Have you ever read your car manual? Or, like most users, after buying a new or used vehicle, you put it off until later, that is to say… never. And that’s a shame ! Because if we quickly went around the main options to be able to drive as serenely as possible, each vehicle has many small gadgets that it is not easy to discover without having read the user manual that we store usually snug in the glove box.

The glove box, precisely, what is it for? This large drawer, most often placed above the feet of the passenger or the passenger, is ideal for storage. Not always very orderly, it accommodates without distinction sunglasses, pens, mail, hairbrush, Doliprane box… In short, a hodgepodge of more or less useful objects that we like have within easy reach in the car.

A simple option to activate via a small, well-hidden button!

But this deep drawer has another function, unknown to many motorists, and yet very useful, especially in summer. If you are used to bringing a bottle to refresh yourself on your short or long journeys, you have certainly already had to swallow a few sips of lukewarm water, even downright hot, in spite of yourself. It’s a shame, because you could probably drink cold, and this without having to carry a cooler, sometimes cumbersome. How ? Simply by putting your bottle in the glove box!

And yes, in most recent cars, the glove box can be transformed into a refrigerator (or almost). If you still don’t want to take a look at the manual, to find out if your vehicle is equipped with this option, then open your glove box and seek a small button, like a switch. It is usually located to the left of the glove box. If you find him, he is the one who will allow you to start compartment air conditioning.

Be careful however, some users think that an air conditioner is embedded in the glove box and that it suffices to turn on the air conditioning of his car via the dashboard so that the drawer receives refrigerated air. This is not the case. The glove box is in fact connected to the vehicle’s air conditioner by a pipe which will pump the cold air, which will then diffuse inside it. But for this to work, you must have activated the small latch located inside (often at the bottom) of the glove box. So, if your car has this option, you can now always drink cool in the car, even in scorching temperatures!
