Right now, almost every other Swede states that they have a lot or quite a lot of trust in the royal family. This is according to a survey from Kantar Public.
The survey, commissioned by TV4 Nyheterna, shows that this figure has increased from 37 percent to 47 percent in the last ten years.
According to the royal history My Hellsing, it is likely that that number will increase after this year’s anniversary celebrations.
– When the monarchy is featured a lot in the media, they also become more famous and then they become more popular.
“They’re a bit charming anyway”
But when TV4 Nyheterna asked people in town about their trust in the royal family, opinions were mixed.
– They are a bit charming anyway. I know they work hard, says Lena Adelstår.
– They just cost a lot of money, says Maria Burnett.
Thousands of people are expected to gather in the capital’s streets on Saturday to celebrate the king’s 50 years on the throne. The motorcade and the boat trip through Stockholm begin at 2:30 p.m., followed by an anniversary concert in front of the castle at 4:00 p.m.
