This is what the weather will be like this weekend – warnings for snow and wind

Winter weather prevails across the country over the weekend, with cold in the north and snowfall in the south.
– It is already quite noisy and a yellow warning has been issued for wind in combination with snowfall, says TV4’s meteorologist Lovisa Svanberg.

The weekend’s weather can both give rise to difficult visibility and slippery conditions on roads.

– We have a front that is starting to move more and more north and in connection with this it is windy and a lot of snow is coming. It is mainly in large parts of Skåne County that will be affected by this, says Lovisa Svanberg, TV4 meteorologist.

In Skåne, the snow has already caused difficulties in traffic during Friday evening. On route 108 outside Trelleborg, a bus ended up in the ditch and caused traffic disruptions. The driver was alone in the bus, but he was not injured and could be rescued from the roof of the bus by the emergency services.

“A lot of slippery snow”

Heavy snowfall in combination with fresh easterly winds can result in messy conditions.

– It looks like there could be a lot of snow and slippery conditions. It’s a bit difficult as the temperatures are on the positive side in some places so then we can get quite wet precipitation that falls on cold roads and then it can be really slippery too, says the meteorologist and adds:

– So it looks like the road conditions will be really bad for many. While there may be reduced visibility at the same time as it blows up a fairly consistent strong wind.

Significant avalanche danger

The snowfall and wind are expected to moderate slightly during Saturday, although some wind is still expected, and the precipitation will increasingly change to rain in the far south.

In the northern parts of the country, the cold persists, and temperatures around minus 30 degrees are expected.

In the farthest north, in the Abisko and Riksgränsfjällen, there is a significant avalanche danger, according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s avalanche forecast.
