Finland is one of the world’s most gun-tight countries in terms of legal weapons. After the school shootings in the 2000s, gun laws were tightened, but it is all the more doubtful that Tuesday’s shooting will have the same effect. – Debates about firearms in Finland have never gone on for a long time, says Matti Näsi who is senior lecturer in criminology at the University of Helsinki.
