Billie Piper, known from Doctor Who, plays BBC Newsnight producer Sam McAlister, based on her book Scoops: Behind The Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interview the film is based. Peter Moffat adapted the original as a screenplay, which was implemented by director Philip Martin for Netflix.
The other cast includes Keeley Hawes as Amanda Thirsk, former private secretary Andrews, Charity Wakefield as Princess Beatrice and Lia Williams as journalist Fran Unsworth.
A three-part Amazon series titled A Very Royal Scandal will take up the same topic at a later date.
