Only recently Stefan Raab announced his big TV comeback and set social media on fire. What many initially thought was an April Fool’s joke was confirmed a short time later: the ex-entertainer will return from retirement and get into the ring again against former professional boxer Regina Halmich. Raab vs. Halmich again

Stefan Raab made media history with legendary formats like TV total. His sharp tongue and probably the biggest grin on TV were his trademarks. In 2015, however, fans had to be very strong: Raab announced the end of his career and withdrew from the public eye. It was quiet about him for a long time, then suddenly a post on social media caused an uproar. The entertainer wants to return to TV for a boxing match.

Why Raab of all people for his comeback? Boxing match against ex-professional boxer Regina Halmich chooses is not surprising: in 2001 and 2007 the presenter competed against the powerful sports ace on TV. Raab lost both times, but that shouldn’t bother him: the boxing matches were considered a real TV spectacle and achieved top ratings. It remains to be seen whether the third fight between Raab and Halmich can once again delight an audience of millions.

When and where can you see Stefan Raab’s boxing match?

The Raab vs. Halmich boxing match will take place on September 14th at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf. Anyone who would like to experience the show event live on site will unfortunately come away empty-handed: the coveted tickets are already sold out.

It is not yet clear which channel the fight will be broadcast live on. Raab’s formats have previously run primarily on ProSieben, but the broadcasting group ruled out broadcasting them last week (via Fernsehenserien.de). TV competitor RTL, however, expressed interest in the broadcast rights to DWDL.de. It remains to be seen which free TV channel will win the decision or whether Raab is really preparing to launch a streaming service.

We’ll find out in late summer whether the now 57-year-old entertainer will cut a good figure against Regina Halmich and can still inspire the audience.
