Pete Hegseth: Secretary of Defense

Employee at the TV channel Fox News, most recently host of the weekend program “Fox & Friends Weekend”, where Trump was a guest. Hegseth is a military veteran and has been stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan, but has not held senior positions or worked in politics.

Elon Musk: Head of the Department of Efficiency

The tech billionaire has supported Trump during the election campaign. Together with former presidential aspirant Vivek Ramaswamy, he will now “dismantle the government bureaucracy, cut redundant regulations, reduce wasteful spending and restructure federal agencies,” according to Trump.

Kristi Noem: Minister for Homeland Security

A devoted Trump supporter and a well-known governor of South Dakota, where she, among other things, refrained from imposing severe covid restrictions, AP reports. The ministry she will lead is responsible for, among other things, border protection, immigration and disaster response.

Marco Rubio: Secretary of State

Sources tell several American media that Rubio will be nominated, but that has not yet been confirmed. Rubio is a Florida senator and ran for president in 2016. His foreign policy is close to Trump’s, with a hard line against China and Iran, Reuers writes.

Mike Waltz: National Security Advisor

The war veteran and has, among other things, served in the US special forces. He is a congressman from Florida and has been a fierce critic of Biden’s foreign policy. Trump calls Waltz a “nationally recognized national security leader, best-selling author and expert on threats from China, Russia, Iran and global terrorism.”

John Ratcliffe: Head of the CIA

Trump has announced that he wants former congressman John Ratflicce to head the intelligence service CIA. He previously served as national intelligence director in the Trump administration between 2020 and 2021.

Susie Wiles: White House Chief of Staff

Wile’s role includes assembling White House staff and organizing the president’s time and schedule. She is described as one of the strategists behind Trump’s election win, but prefers to stay in the background.

Tom Homan: Head of Border Patrol

Homan was the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and was described as the face of measures aimed at increasing immigration control during Trump’s last term.

Lee Zeldin: Head of the Environmental Protection Agency EPA

Former Republican congressman Lee Zeldin will lead the federal Environmental Protection Agency EPA. The New York politician writes on X that they must now “restore America’s energy dominance, revive our auto industry to bring back American jobs and become the global leader in AI.”

Elise Stefanik: UN Ambassador

Stefanik has been a loyal Trump supporter for several years and defended the newly elected president when he was impeached in 2019. The congressman has repeatedly criticized the UN, including for its stance against Israel.

Stephen Miller: Deputy Director of Policy Affairs

Miller is a former adviser to Trump and advocates a more restrictive immigration policy. He is also the architect behind Trump’s promised mass deportation of illegal immigrants, according to CNN.
