This is the tip you absolutely need to know to better warm your car when it’s cold – just one gesture is enough

This is the tip you absolutely need to know to

This simple tip for quickly warming up the air in your car is little known to motorists.

The cold snap which has settled over a large part of France is not good news for motorists. Beyond the often more difficult traffic conditions when temperatures flirt with 0, the cold is particularly uncomfortable for driving. And while some expensive models offer the driver a heated steering wheel and seats, they are largely in the minority on our roads. So yes, heating in cars exists, and fortunately! But you know it only too well, it takes several minutes before the heat spreads throughout the passenger compartment.

Time for the engine to heat up and transform the freezing air from outside into hot air. If you decide to turn on the ventilation as soon as the engine turns on, your impatience will cause you to receive cold air coming from the various air vents. It’s really not ideal unless you want to catch a bad cold. It is generally advisable to wait about 5 minutes when it is very cold before turning on the ventilation. But to warm up the atmosphere more effectively, there is a trick that all motorists should know.

Don’t dream, this very simple method will not allow you to enter an already preheated vehicle. But it will serve to distribute hot air inside the car much more evenly and therefore warm it up more quickly. How ? By pressing the button which directs the ventilation downwards, a button often represented by a man and an arrow pointing at his feet. And why this one? Because air, when heated, becomes less dense than the air around it, making it lighter.

So, if you let the hot air out through the lowest ventilation grilles of your vehicle it will rise from the floor to the ceiling, thus quickly heating the entire cabin.

Conversely, if you press the button for example to receive the air on the face, the hot breath will only diffuse upwards without passing through the lower part of the vehicle, at the level of the legs. In this case, it will take much longer for the temperature in your car to become pleasant. This tip, available to everyone, is very useful in winter because no one likes driving in a refrigerator.
