It is actually a Cover by none other than music legend Bruce Springsteen.

We hear the song in the intro of Beyond the Spree The River by the American musician Marissa Nadler. It is a cover, i.e. my own interpretation, of the Bruce Springsteen song with the same title. This first appeared on the album of the same name, The River, in 1980.

The cover by Marissa Nadler is one Appropriate choice for the theme music from Beyond the Spree. After all, the title of the series, Beyond the Spree, plays with the river that divides Berlin. For the title music, the series looked for a thematically appropriate song that, with its sad, beautiful sounds, provides an interesting contrast to the typical Jürgen Vogel humor and crime thriller suspense of the series.
