this is the name of the PS5 Remote Play console

If Sony Interactive Entertainment is absent from gamescom again this year, the Japanese manufacturer has nevertheless drawn attention with new details on its “portable remote play console” dedicated to the PlayStation 5 and which until now responded to the code name “Project Q”. Through a press release on PlayStation Blog, Sony reveals the definitive name of this accessory: the PlayStation Portal. Having the PS5 experience in its hands, all over the world, is Sony’s challenge, which has therefore decided to bring together all the features of the DualSense controller in this new device. We thus find the adaptive triggers, but also the haptic feedback, while this is an opportunity to confirm that the screen will be indeed tactile, equipped with LCD technology, with a size of 8 inches is capable of displaying a 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second.

With the PlayStation Portal, Sony wants to free the TV from the home so that family members can share the family screen, and thus allow PS5 games to be played in another room. How does it work? Through a Wi-Fi connection, since the PlayStation Portal is able to play all compatible games installed on PS5. The device also includes a 3.5mm audio output for connecting a wired headset, but on the other hand, no compatibility with PS VR2 games, nor cloud streaming function via the PlayStation Plus Premium.

As for its price, the PlayStation Portal is announced at €219.99 in France ($199.99 in the United States) and it will arrive at the end of the year without further details.
