“This is the first time I gave a perfect score”: this game is acclaimed and obtains the best scores of the year

This is the first time I gave a perfect score

If 2024 seems to be a pivotal year for video games, one of them has just created a surprise by receiving exceptional marks from the press.

The end of 2024 is quite busy regarding the marketing of new video games. Publishers are increasing the release of titles, eagerly awaited by fans or some with excellent feedback from the press and players. In the space of just a few weeks, we have been able to observe the excellent ratings of “Silent Hill 2 Remake”, “Astro Bot” and even “Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero”.

So many games that surprise with their qualities and the know-how put in place by the development studios. However, one of these very recently released games stands out from the rest with extremely high ratings from video game journalists. Critically acclaimed, the title in question has a score of 94/100 on the Metacritic site which brings together all of the biggest video game tests around the world. And yet it was not at all expected as a blockbuster in the gaming industry.

Thus, “Metaphor: ReFantazio” is placed between “Elden Ring” and “God of War: Ragnarok” among the best video games of all time. The journalist in charge of the test for the Eurogamer site notably gave the title a perfect score of 5/5 and described the video game as “the quintessence of Japanese role-playing games. This is the first time that the journalist has given a perfect score to a video game.

For its part, the GameSpot site, mainly known in the US, also gives the game published by Atlus a perfect score of 10/10. This is the 29th game on the site to obtain this ultimate rating since the site’s creation in 1996. “Metaphor: ReFantazio” thus joins the magazine’s Pantheon among other games rated perfectly by the site, such as “Baldur’s Gate 3 “, “Resident Evil 4” or even “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”.

“Metaphor: ReFantazio” therefore seems to be unanimously appreciated by the specialist press. The journalists who were able to test the game especially highlight a mature story which addresses particularly dark and serious themes. The graphic direction is also highlighted with several fascinating places to discover and explore. Finally, “Metaphor: ReFantazio” also seems to shine with its turn-based combat which leaves room for advanced strategy, but easy to learn.

How to explain such success? If “Metaphor: ReFantazio” was not a game particularly anticipated by the general public, fans of Japanese role-playing games were still eager to discover the title. It must be said that the developers are not unknown since the Atlus studio is already recognized for titles like the “Persona” series, a true monument of the genre.

“Metaphor: ReFantazio” is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series consoles as well as on PC since October 11, 2024.
