This is the end of the StadsWormerij in Amersfoort – at least for now: ‘All the clichés about circular entrepreneurship are true’

This is the end of the StadsWormerij in Amersfoort

What is the City Wormerij?

At the StadsWormerij in Amersfoort, fruit and vegetable scraps are collected from companies. These remains are food for worms, which then turn them into compost.

In the wormery, the vegetable and fruit waste is ground and goes into the compost bins. The first part of the composting process starts there at a temperature of more than 60 degrees Celsius. Later, the worms are allowed to eat it, which they then defecate as manure, so-called ‘vermicompost’.
