Traffic’s major challenges: “There it will alternate between snow, rain, snow, rain, cold, snow”
Most of the people who have to go far for the New Year’s celebration travel on Monday.
And the lemming train of cars goes north this year.
– We will see a lot of traffic during the day today, says Bengt Olsson at the Swedish Transport Administration.
He points out some routes as the busiest.
– We will see on these roads – E6, E4, E22 and further up towards Sundsvall – a lot of traffic during the day today. Because it is probably the day that people travel the most right now before news evening, says Bengt Olsson, press manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.
Warning about the weather
However, he believes that these major European roads are so good that they swallow a lot of traffic.
– So as long as you follow the traffic rhythm, it works very well, he says in Nyhetsmorgon.
However, he raises a warning finger about the weather.
– We have had a lot of challenges in the weather report, so this is what I would like to send everyone: Check what the local weather report says before you sit in the place that has been reported.
Closed roads and rail traffic
The Swedish Transport Administration has closed the E10 and road 95 up in Norrland, where there is a lot of snow and strong wind, in order to plough. Rail traffic between Ystad and Simrishamn in southern Sweden has also been closed, precisely because of strong winds.
Otherwise, Bengt Olsson believes that the big challenges will be in Svealand and Götaland – precisely because of the weather.
– It’s because it will alternate between snow, rain, snow, rain, cold, snow, rain, cold… You have to be part of those changes, because it will be very different!
