This is how you should act in the event of a dog attack

After the recent dog attacks, many are now asking themselves how to act if you, or someone close to you, is attacked by a dog.

On Monday, 10-year-old Luqman was attacked by amstaff Mailo when he got off the tram in Gothenburg together with his mother and older brother. Now he is being cared for at Queen Silvia’s Children’s Hospital, where he has been forced to undergo two operations.
According to the county administrative board, the attack was not Mailo’s first. In July, he bit another dog so badly that it had to be euthanized. Then the county administrative board decided that the amstaff must wear a leash and muzzle, but that has not happened.

After the attack, many have asked the question how to act if you are attacked by a dog. In Nyhetsmorgon, the dog coach Fredrik Steen says that it is important to defend yourself if the situation should arise, and that it is important not to try to tear yourself away from the dog’s grip.
– Stay relatively calm and defend yourself, it’s a difficult combination but it’s important.

Fredrik Steen also says that it is important to shock the dog, preferably with an object. If there is a chair nearby, take it and throw it at the dog. If you have an umbrella or a jacket, throw it over your head or spray water if you can. Also grab the dog’s equipment and twist as much as you can.
– Anything you can come up with that the dog is not used to is usually very effective.
He also adds that a dog attack is an emergency situation, so you have the law on your side.

According to Fredrik Steen, if you see someone being attacked by a dog, it is important that you act. The thing to keep in mind is that a dog can only bite one person at a time.
– It is relatively harmless to approach and be close to a dog that attacks another human. Get as close as you can and do the same things as if you were to be attacked yourself.
