Summer is over and autumn is here, with cooler temperatures, unsettled weather and nights with temperatures below ten degrees.

Therefore, you should harvest your green tomatoes
Tomatoes can be picked unripe and allowed to fully ripen indoors. They can be eaten even when they are green and can create a completely new taste experience, so you don’t always have to eat red tomatoes.
If you let them hang around when the temperature drops, they can destroy an entire crop. Tomatoes are very sensitive to frost.
Most tomato plants are annuals and something you have to start over every year. But it is actually possible to overwinter your tomato plants, even if it is difficult.

Tomatoes need sunlight
The first thing to think about is that they should be in a place where the temperature does not exceed twenty degrees or go below ten degrees. They still need sunlight most hours of the day. It is difficult to overwinter them without sunlight.
– Ordinary tomatoes can be pruned before winter to promote branching and fruiting next spring, says Hans Jensen to Nyheter24.
However, bush tomatoes should not be pruned before winter. Ensuring that the soil stays moist during the winter is also important for them to successfully overwinter.
You can also take cuttings from your tomato plant to overwinter them and plant out in the spring.
