Destiny 2 introduced a new surfboard ahead of the release of Episode: Revenant: the Xûrfboard. However, Bungie has not yet explained how you can get the new board. We’ll show you what you have to do for it.
What is the difference between Sparrow and Surfboard? There are two means of transportation for your Guardian in Destiny 2: the Sparrow and the Surfboard. While the Sparrow has been around since the release of Destiny 1, the Skimmer was only added in the 2024 Guardian Games.
The Sparrow is a normal futuristic floating vehicle that you can use to get from A to B. Most of the time the Sparrows offer nothing except a few smaller perks that make traveling easier. The skimmer, on the other hand, is more mobile, more maneuverable and even lets you cross impassable areas with the grindrail.
For this reason, surfboards are very popular among Guardians. So far there have only been two copies – one from the Guardian Games and the other from the Eververse Shop. However, on October 11th another example will be added: the new Xûrfboard. If you don’t have a board yet, then you should definitely get this surfboard. We’ll show you how.
Xûrfboard takes a bit of grinding
What do I have to do for the Xûrfboard? If you believe the information from light.gg, there will be no quest for the Xûrfboard. Instead, you will be sent on the hunt for strange coins because the board is really expensive. You need a total of 97 coins to purchase the vehicle from Xûr.
You get between 4 and 5 Strange Coins from normal activities, so it’s a few rounds of Strikes, Gambit or Crucible that you have to run to reach the number.
When and where will Xur appear? Xur always appears on Friday at 7 p.m. and then disappears on Tuesday at 7 p.m. You can find him in the tower next to the noodle restaurant, near Ikora.
What activities make Strange Coins jump quickly? Strikes are best for the grind, as you can’t lose them and are usually given a fixed number. To do this, select strikes that can be completed quickly and briefly. The Devil’s Den is ideal and can even be completed in less than 4 minutes.
However, if you want to add some spice to your grind and farm new weapons, then you might want to give Gambit a try. Expired, one of the most popular pulse rifles in the Drifter’s arsenal, is back and you can focus the weapon with accumulated Gambit Engrams.
We would not recommend Crucible because this mode is much more difficult to win compared to Gambit if you are unlucky with your opponents. In Gambit you can lose quickly, but in Crucible it’s more unpredictable because it depends on the map, your teammates, the mode and the current meta.
That was all the information on how you can get the new Xûrfboard. If the grind for the new surfboard changes, we will adapt our article accordingly and add further information. What do you think of the board? Will you indulge or ignore it? Let’s find out in the comments.
