Recently, it became clear that Postnord is once again raising the postage. This time for 2025. And the reason why they once again choose to raise the price of stamps is because there are simply fewer and fewer letters being sent in Sweden.

Domestic letters weighing no more than 50 grams will now cost 22 kroner to buy an additional stamp, which is an increase of a full four kroner compared to the increase that was made before 2024.
– What is happening is that the revenue from the postage is drastically reduced and we have a high proportion of fixed costs. Since we get no government support for the postal service, the only solution left for us is to raise the postage, said Henrik Ishiharapress spokesperson at Postnord, in connection with the announcement of the postage increase.
But there are ways to avoid the high costs of purchasing a stamp – even in 2025.

You can avoid Postnord’s postage increase
Instead of purchasing stamps for SEK 22 each, you can easily get away cheaper in the long run. That’s what Postnord’s stamp manager thinks Stina Olofsdotter. In an interview with Swedish Radio namely, she explains the background that causes the price increase, as Ishihara previously explained.
– A large percentage of our costs are fixed. As we communicate more digitally and send fewer letters, there are fewer letters that need to share in this cost that the letter network entails, she says.

Postnord: How to avoid the postage increase
But to avoid paying SEK 22 for a stamp if you are going to send a letter in 2025, you can act now.
When the postage is increased, you can round up and thus avoid the expensive prices that the stamps will now entail.
Olofsdotter states that if you have an old stamp, regardless of how old it is, it will be fine to use even after the postage increase.
– These stamps that have domestic letters on them, which we call no-value, they have no outer limit, but if you have bought a booklet of stamps, you can use them after the postage increase, she tells the radio channel.
