MuSa from Pori had won the previous two championships, and the team won the regular season with a seven-point margin over Ylöjärvi’s Ilves. However, the third in the regular series, HIFK, did not bow down, but first knocked out Ilves in the semi-finals, and in the finals the clear pre-favourite, MuSa.
– If something is considered superior, then this proves that nothing is superior. A gang like a gang falls, if you only believe in it, Jenni Huttunen stated at the championship party.
MuSa lost their home advantage in the first match, when HIFK claimed a valuable victory with a score of 3–1. In the second match, MuSa took its only victory in the final series, but after this the people from Helsinki always celebrated after the match ended.
In the fourth final, regular time ended 4–4, but in the follow-up match, HIFK scored three goals against MuSa’s one.
– Quite a great trip. Three years in the League and three medals, yes, that says something about this gang, Hanna Putala stated.
– Commitment and purposeful work. We are convinced that this will bear fruit. Now this is great!
HIFK won bronze last season and silver the previous season. This season’s bronze medals went to Ylöjärvi, when Ilves beat GFT 9–7 after the follow-up match.
