Last year Tomas Ledin turned 70 and celebrated 50 years as an artist. He has become a grandfather twice and this year he and his wife Marie celebrate 40 years of marriage. When Tomas visits TILDE, he states that it is Marie and the grandchildren who are the greatest of all.
Celebrating 40 years of marriage, also called a ruby wedding, is something to celebrate, notes Tomas Ledin in the program. But what is the secret behind Tomas and Marie’s years together?
– Marie is the secret, she is the woman in my life, he says.
“Why do we make it work over the years?”
Tomas and Marie met in Stockholm’s nightlife at the end of the 70s, and since then they have both grown and developed together.
– Why do we make it work over the years? I think you have to give each other some air too, you can’t sit on each other’s lap all the time. She’s had her career, I’ve had mine. Sometimes we work together.
– But what does it depend on… yes.. but it’s still hot, I still want her, he says and laughs.
Tomas and Marie have two grandchildren, and becoming a grandfather was not quite what Tomas had imagined.
– Grandpa Tomas probably didn’t think there would be any major change, so I was a little shocked at how I reacted. I was completely fulfilled by this. A new little life and I felt very strongly that I am part of a cycle, he says.
