In Belgium, some cafes start to receive mandatory energy contribution from their customers, while others lower the temperature so that long-sitting people leave the environment.
Thai Cafe, which has 14 branches throughout Belgium, announced on its website that they have implemented new measures due to the energy crisis.
Thai Cafe, which has 5 branches in Brussels, pointed out that 3 kilowatt-hours of electricity is used to prepare a hot plate of food, adding that this costs an additional 1 euro at today’s prices.
1 EURO ENERGY CONTRIBUTION
For this reason, Thai Cafe stated that they add an energy contribution of 1 Euro per portion to the bills of the customers, and noted that the application is temporary and transparent, and that they can make changes in the application according to the course of the situation.
Some cafes in Brussels are also implementing new measures, especially for customers who sit for long periods of time due to the increase in energy prices.
NO LONGER CAN CONNECT TO THE INTERNET
Cafes are removing electrical outlets and making internet connections out of reach of customers.
In addition, some cafes reduce the temperature inside and increase the volume of the music excessively, aiming to make customers who sit for a long time uncomfortable and leave early. (AA)
