Businessman Jeff Bezos, aerospace company Blue Origin’s “New Sheppard” rocket malfunction occurred 1 minute after the launch. The capsule, which was designed to carry people on the rocket shortly after the failure, was automatically separated from the rocket with the activation of the security system. The capsule soon parachuted into the Texas desert. The malfunction occurred while the rocket was traveling at an altitude of about 8,500 meters at a speed of 1,126 kilometers.
“NO INJURED”
“During today’s flight, the booster engine system malfunctioned. The capsule escape system successfully separated the capsule from the engine compartment. The booster hit the ground. No injuries reported,” the company said in a statement.
While New Shepard is used for unmanned space expeditions, it is planned to be used for space tourism in the future.
