When Jurassic World 3: A New Age was released, the film was announced as the grand finale of the dinosaur series. All the main characters banded together for one final adventure. However, this conclusion was not all that final. Because at the beginning of the year another part was announced: Jurassic World 4: Rebirth.
The plot of Jurassic World 4 is already known – and Scarlett Johansson plays the main role
With Jurassic World 4 we are not dealing with a direct sequel. Rather, the film is like the Jurassic World trilogy to the Jurassic Park trilogy. This means: The continuity of the previous films is retained, but the Focus shifts to new characterswho experience their own adventure in the Dino Park.
Specifically, the action of Jurassic World 4 begins five years after the events of Part 3 and introduces us to Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson). The expert in top secret operations is supposed to lead a group to secure the valuable DNA of dinosaurs. Because they are once again threatened with extinction.
The reason for this is the earth’s ecosystem, which has changed enormously over the past million years. The prehistoric monsters had no chance to adapt naturally to the new circumstances. Looking at the previous films in the series, it shouldn’t take long before powerful parties emerge from the background who are primarily concerned with one thing: profit. Last but not least, Jurassic World 4 was written by David Koepp, who was also responsible for the scripts of the first two Jurassic Park films.
However, Steven Spielberg is not returning to the director’s chair. He is currently busy with a new sci-fi film, which is also based on a script by Koepp and will be released in cinemas in 2026. None of the other previous Jurassic directors (Joe Johnston, Colin Trevorrow and JA Bayona) are at the start of Part 4 either.
Instead, we can welcome Gareth Edwards as the new filmmaker in the Jurassic universe. Edwards has already brought one of the most legendary movie monsters ever to the cinema: Godzilla (2014). He also directed the outstanding blockbusters Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and The Creator (2023).
When does Jurassic World 4: Rebirth start in cinemas?
Filming on Jurassic World 4 has already been completed. The film is currently in post-production. This means it should be in time for the scheduled cinema release on July 2, 2024 be finished.
