The Azovstal factory in Mariupol, which was under heavy bombardment by the Russian army, was hit by air and ground attacks. Images of the attack were shared on social media by the so-called Interior Ministry of the pro-Russian separatist Donetsk People’s Republic in the Donbass region of Ukraine.
THE MAYOR ANNOUNCED
Although it is not clear when the image was recorded, it is estimated to have been recorded after May 3.
Mariupol Mayor Vadim Boychenko stated in a previous statement that communication with the Ukrainian forces in Azovstal was cut off, while Russia stated that it launched an attack on the factory and entered the factory building. The Ukrainian side later stated that communication with the Ukrainian forces at the factory was restored.
SOME OF THE CIVILS FROM THE FACTORY WERE evacuated
The Azovstal plant, located in Mariupol, Ukraine, has long been under siege by the Russian army. Hundreds of civilians fleeing the Russian attacks on the city took refuge in the factory. The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelenskiy, announced that the first group of civilians at the factory had been evacuated.
On the other hand, with the initiatives of the United Nations (UN) and the International Committee of the Red Cross, 156 people were evacuated to Zaporizhia, Ukraine by buses yesterday. Members of the Azov Battalion and civilians are still present at the factory. (UAV)
