80% of the habitats for animals and plants in the EU are in poor condition. The European Commission believes that if it now wants to legislate that all damaged ecosystems must be restored by the year 2050. Next to a large motorway construction in northern Stockholm, a project is already underway to restore the ecosystem. – If you think of the entire Stockholm Bypass, the absolute largest part goes in a tunnel, it is one of our protection measures that we have done. There is a lot of planning beforehand to avoid an injury, says Anna Nordqvist, who is an environmental specialist at the Swedish Transport Administration. More about the project in the player above.
