Shopping in a grocery store is something most Swedes do. What can differ, however, is what they choose to buy.
At most retail chains such as Ica, Coop, Hemköp and Willys, the range is large, even the customer who only wants to buy a falu sausage is faced with several choices.
In the CPS GfK Brand Footprint Europe report, Swedes’ habits when shopping in stores have been studied to find out which brands and companies Swedes prefer over others. The survey took place between the months of November 2022 and November 2023.
10. Bregott
Bregott is owned by the food giant Arla foods and, as you know, sells butter.
Despite the recent heated debate about whether the Bregott packaging has suffered from shrink inflation or not, most people still choose Bregott when buying butter.
However, Bregott is far from the only brand that sells dairy products on this list.

Skånemejerier has been around since 1964 and has managed to establish itself firmly in the market. Many Swedes prefer Skånemejerier to other brands when shopping for food.

It may not come as a surprise that American giant Coca Cola has found its way onto this list. The soft drink was launched in Sweden in 1953.

The company sells chips and snacks. Perhaps their biggest competitor Estrella has not found its way onto this list, which means that most people prefer OLW over Estrella.

Scan’s CEO can be satisfied with his annual salary of SEK 4,575,100, a figure that comes from 2022. Customers continue to appreciate Scan’s products.

Santa Maria is perhaps best known for its taco accessories, something that you can safely say has gone home with the Swedes.

Marabou is a Swedish brand but owned by international Mondelēz International. The food giant is responsible for the sale of chocolate.

The third most popular brand in grocery stores is Felix, which sells, among other things, meatballs, ketchup and fish sticks. An obvious choice, at least that’s what the Swedish people think.

In second place is Pågens, perhaps best known for its pastries.

Tops are the dairy masters at Arla, which according to the survey is the brand most Swedes prefer. The survey has also shown that Arla has been chosen 178 million times during the period November 2022 to November 2023.
